Neijiang Travel Guide: Shengshui Temple, Longchang Arches, Sweet City

Neijiang, the "Sweet City" of southern Sichuan, splits into an urban culture day and a county stonework morning. Downtown holds Shengshui Temple's cliff Guanyin shrine and Zhang Daqian memorial gardens. Longchang's stone memorial arches need a separate road block. Do not pretend they share one walkable street.

Places worth visiting

The cliff shrine and temple grounds need unhurried looking. Tickets follow the official notice. Pair with nearby Daqian memorial gardens when both are open.

Celebrated memorial archways repay a dedicated morning. Transfer from Neijiang city is a separate transport block; confirm last returns.

Zizhong and soft add-ons

Optional county texture after Longchang; cut it when arches already used the daylight. Sweet City candy branding is local identity, not a sightseeing checklist. Continue toward Zigong or Chengdu corridors as needed.

When to come to Neijiang

Sichuan basin: humid summers, mild winters. Spring and autumn suit temple and arch walks. Summer heat argues for early starts; weekdays ease holiday queues.

Getting in and where to stay

Neijiang sits on southern Sichuan rail corridors. Local taxis cover Shengshui and Daqian sites; Longchang needs bus or hired car. Stay in Neijiang city for the temple day; overnight nearer Longchang only if arches own dawn.

Eating in Neijiang

Sichuan sweet-city snacks, noodles and chili oils. Temple-area lunch spikes; city alleys clarify menus. Ask for set prices; this guide does not quote yuan amounts.

How to arrange the route

Day 1: Arrive; Shengshui Temple; Daqian gardens if open; city dinner.

Day 2: Longchang arches morning; optional Zizhong; return.

Day 3: Rail toward Zigong / Chengdu.

What to cut if short on time

Keep either Shengshui or Longchang as the core, depending on cliff shrine versus stone arches. Cut Zizhong first, then secondary candy-factory tourism. Leave Longchang arches for a clear morning rather than a late temple afternoon.

Things to confirm before you go

  • Shengshui and Daqian hours on the official notice.
  • Road time to Longchang.
  • Which arches are open or under restoration.
  • Current ticket rules.
