Distances are longer than the Yangtze Delta. High-speed rail covers Xi'an–Lanzhou; Xining and Yinchuan still eat a day in transit. Come in spring or autumn — summer is hot and dusty, winter is dry-cold, and the Terracotta Army does not care which you pick.
